Product Description
Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so the speaker unit has a perfectly linear motion. Advanced YST helps to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance.

5 out of 5 stars A Perfect Match For the Yamaha Digital Sound Projectors   November 13, 2007

This subwoofer pairs perfectly with the Yamaha YSP-4000BL Digital Sound Projector to provide incredible sound for a home theater. The setup for the YSP-4000 will automatically do the crossover for the subwoofer. Using the enclosed Yamaha link cable, the subwoofer will automatically be turned on and off with the YSP-4000. I can and do strongly recommend this combination for a home theater that not only sounds great buts looks good as well.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent sub for the price!   December 28, 2007

This little unit rocks. It is low profile, looks great, and fits into a narrow space. Don't plan on stacking components on top of it even though you may be tempted, as the rumbling of the bass can disrupt other components. You can also place this vertically. Like the other reviewer, it is perfect with the ysp-4000 as the sync cable turns it off and on with the main speaker. I think other yamaha components may have this also.

5 out of 5 stars smooth bass   January 27, 2009

Don't let the size of this thing fool you. I have 6 in-wall mounted speakers that sounded good but no bass. This thing brought my system to life. I only have it turned up halfway. It also looks good on the floor under my stereo.

I bought this gem to integrate into my computer sound system, along with my M-Audio AV-40 monitors, and I couldn't be happier. It fits perfectly under my bed and brings a full richness to the sound below the 85hz limit of my speakers. It can also pack a punch to rock the house if that's what you're looking for, which is surprising for a sub that's so small. The best part is it fits perfectly under my bed, which is right next to my computer desk, and the price is right for a quality component like this.

5 out of 5 stars One powerful subwoofer   March 27, 2009
wiser consumer (Medford, OR)
I bought this subwoofer to fill in the bottom range of a stereo system -- Yamaha's MCR-730, whose little speakers do an amazing job for their size but which cannot do the impossible.

The volume control is graduated with ten marks, the middle mark (at 12 o'clock) being the recommended starting point for beginning its integration into a system. With the Yamaha stereo system mentioned -- whose little speakers are not all that efficient -- I have the subwoofer volume control set at 2 3/4, and that may still be a tad too high. So, I believe this unit will prove to be more than adequate for most systems.

Plus, it integrates very nicely into the listening experience. I'm seldom aware of the subwoofer unless I'm playing rock music (where the bass line is overly emphasized). But, I am aware of hearing all the music now -- that now I have a full-range system.
